why in the darkness?

I attended the 2014 Exodus Cry Abolition Summit in Kansas City where we looked into the horrific realities of sex trafficking, God’s sorrow over it and what we could do to abolish this great evil. I am a processor by nature, and while there are some things I would rather close my eyes to so as to not feel pain, horror, etc., this is one thing I cannot and WILL NOT choose to remain ignorant of.

And so, I figured I would just start writing about the things I am thinking about...and thus this blog. The name comes from a line spoken by one of the speakers at the Abolition Summit that struck my heart. As she spoke of the red light districts in Brazil, she said something along these lines as she shared about the dark alleys and hidden things that go on there: “No one wants to be there...but Jesus, Jesus wants to be there.” Jesus wants to be in the dark places of this world, He wants to dispel the darkness with His light. And so, I will praise Him in the darkness and I will offer Him the sweet aroma of prayer there until He comes; revealing what is hidden, healing what is broken, freeing what is bound.
